Leave a gift in your Will

We want our children and grandchildren to inherit an Australia where our unique native species can still be seen where they belong: living in the wild, not only from photographs, museum displays or behind fences.

A gift to FAME in your Will is a special way to help make that future possible. After providing for the people you care about, you may choose to include FAME in your Will, helping Australia's most endangered species remain part of our shared landscape for generations to come.

Whatever the size of your gift, it can make a lasting difference.

Why a bequest to FAME matters

Australia’s native species are part of what makes this country extraordinary, and we want them to remain part of its future.

For more than 30 years, FAME has supported practical conservation projects that give some of Australia’s most endangered species a better chance of survival. We work with conservation partners, scientists, governments and communities across the country to help keep these species where they belong: in the wild.

A gift in your Will helps ensure this work can continue in the years ahead, while giving FAME the ability to respond as new conservation challenges emerge and different species need our help.
It is a thoughtful way to carry something you care about today into the future.

As we grow older, we think of the future years that our families will enjoy after we have parted from this Earth. Our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are the ones I hope will be able to enjoy our special Australian bush and its unique fauna and flora, from kangaroos to the small native mice, and from towering eucalypts to tiny ground orchids.

I am confident that FAME will continue in the future to save and care for our special native plants and animals. I am supporting FAME in my Will and I ask you to consider to do so too.

The impact of your bequest

We cannot know what challenges Australia’s endangered species will face in the decades ahead. What we do know is that there will continue to be species that need someone prepared to act for them.

Your bequest can give FAME the flexibility to be there when that need arises.

It may help restore habitat, return a species to the wild, support vital research and monitoring, manage threats or provide the funding that allows an important conservation project to move forward.

You can choose to direct your bequest towards a particular purpose, or allow FAME to use your gift where the conservation need is greatest at the time.

However you choose to give, your bequest will help continue FAME’s work for Australia’s endangered species and the generations who will inherit them.

Getting started with your bequest

Including FAME in your Will can be quite straight-forward, and there are different ways to make a gift depending on what feels right for you and your circumstances.

You might choose to leave:

  • a share of what remains of your estate after you have provided for family and friends,

  • a percentage of your estate,

  • a specific amount, or

  • particular assets, such as property or shares.

If you already have a Will, your Solicitor can advise you about the simplest and most appropriate way to include FAME. If you are making or updating your Will, we recommend speaking with a solicitor experienced in estate planning so that your wishes are clearly recorded.

Our Bequest Information Booklet provides further information, including suggested wording that you can take to your solicitor.

We’re here if you would like to talk

We understand that making decisions about your Will is very personal. There is no obligation to tell us if you are considering a gift to FAME, or if you have already included one.

Sometimes, though, it helps simply to have a conversation.

If you would like to know more about FAME, how bequests are used, or the work your gift could help make possible in the years ahead, Tracy would be very happy to talk with you.

Any conversation will, of course, be treated in confidence.
