In 2018, environmental education and rehabilitation facility, Raptor Domain came up with an elaborate way to raise money for threatened species. Owners Leeza and Dave Irwin donated over $1000 to the Foundation for Australia’s Most Endangered Species Ltd (FAME). Dubbed ‘FAME Day’, this proved to be a success in more ways than one.
Raptor Domain and FAME are proud to collaborate for the second FAME Day, to be hosted at Raptor Domain, Seal Bay. This year, FAME Day has expanded to involve volunteers and experts that work directly on projects effecting many of Kangaroo Island’s threatened species.
“Creating awareness and providing a better understanding of threatened species on Kangaroo Island is something that we take seriously at Raptor Domain,” comments Leeza Irwin, “FAME Day is a perfect way to engage with our local and visitor communities and get the message out there.”
Come along to Raptor Domain on Saturday 13 July and take part in one of their world-renowned in-flight bird shows. Experts will be on hand to discuss both fauna and flora threatened species on Kangaroo Island, projects that are supporting these species and how you can become involved. Prizes will also be on offer during the day.
Profits from ticket sales for bird shows on the day will be generously donated to the Foundation for Australia’s Most Endangered Species Ltd. Last year saw Slim, the Black-breasted Buzzard crack open an emu egg, in which was hidden a cheque! What will you have in store for us this year, Raptor Domain!
