SPECIES: Delma impar — Striped Legless Lizard

CLASSIFICATION: Endangered

Don't confuse this one for a snake; the Striped Legless Lizard is actually more closely related to the gecko and the skink. It might be hard to believe, but we don't know much about this one. Best guesses are that this species of lizard can live to about 10 years old. The Striped Legless Lizard is now endangered and can be found in native grassland areas of SA, Vic, ACT and NSW. Threats to and loss of habitat are sure reasons for it's predicament.Photo credit: Benjamint444 - Own work, GFDL 1.2, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=15913268
