SPECIES: Eremophila rostrata — Beaked Eremophila

CLASSIFICATION: Critically endangered

It's fair to say that the Beaked Eremophila is in a spot of bother. It's a pretty little plant, with pink, 'beaked' flowers. Endemic to WA, it's now known from only four subpopulations, estimated to be at no more than 90 mature plants still remaining.

As a species, eremophilas tend to be tolerant to poor soil conditions and receiving little, irregular rainfall. And so, they have been found to grow in stony, open shrubland and also open mallee woodland. Land clearing and grazing, mining, fire and road maintenance are all factors to the few plants that remain.
