SPECIES: Ptilotus pyramidatus — Pyramid Mulla-mulla

CLASSIFICATION: Critically endangered

Blink and you could very well miss this one. Pyramid Mulla-mulla makes the critically endangered flora list - it's a small plant only growing to a height of 5cm. Yes you read correctly. Only known from one population in Perth, WA, it was presumed extinct until recently rediscovered in 2010 and hadn't been collected prior to this since the 1840's. That a fair while to be missing in action.

Found on the flat floodplain, this leaves Pyramid Mulla-mulla susceptible to many threats including: off-road vehicles, invasive plants, habitat degradation caused by rabbits and too frequent fires.
