The Foundation for Australia’s Most Endangered Species Ltd (FAME) is pleased to announce the appointment to the Board of Madelon Willemsen.
Based in NSW, Madelon has extensive leadership experience in project management and realising conservation outcomes in Australia and Southeast Asia. She has worked as a Senior Manager in Taronga Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo, Zoos Victoria. At these zoos she was also member of the Australian Threatened Species Recovery Team for the Eastern barred Bandicoot and played a key role in the facilitation of recovery outcomes for other recovery programs such as Little Penguin and Helmeted Honeyeater.
After working as the Country Director for TRAFFIC in Vietnam for three years, Madelon returned to Sydney in January 2018 and finished her PhD on Improving the Effectiveness of Conservation Program Management.
Madelon's strengths include portfolio management, conservation strategy, effective delivery of programs, outcome and impact evaluation, design-thinking and innovation and public campaigning for conservation action.
Madelon comes with an extensive network with other like-minded organisations and the private sector, both nationally and internationally. She believes that, with collaboration and the delivery of innovative and dynamic interventions, it is possible to tackle conservation problems for endangered species.
