Endangered Wildlife

'Modern' Australia has the worst record in the world for species extinction. According to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, there are more endangered plants and animals in Australia than most of the rest of the world.

FAME's vision is to prevent any further extinctions of Australian wildlife. We actively support projects that will save endangered wildlife, and we work in partnership with a wide range of like-minded organisations.

Our work is made possible by the financial support of our members and donors. Please join us - your support will help FAME provide the difference between survival and extinction for Australia's most endangered species.

Help FAME save the Tasmanian Devil from extinction

The endangered Tasmanian devil urgently needs your help.

Devil Ark is the largest conservation breeding program for the Tasmanian devil on mainland Australia.

In January 2011, Devil Ark was launched with 43 Tasmanian devils. By the end of the year - thanks to a very successful breeding year and importing additional devils - this number will have doubled. By the end of 2012 close to 200 devils will be at Devil Ark; and 360 devils by 2016.

But Devil Ark must quickly expand to breed a large population of devils. To complete the next stage, another 10 devil enclosures need to be developed. This means building over 6.5 km of special devil-proof fences and digging another 80 devil dens.

You can play a vital role in saving the devil … but time is of the essence! Right now we need to build Fences for Devils for the next generation of devils. Read more about this project
